Notting Hill Removals Modern Slavery Statement
This Modern Slavery Statement is made by Notting Hill Removals in relation to the financial year ending 31 December and sets out the steps we are taking to prevent modern slavery and human trafficking in our business operations and supply chains. We recognise that modern slavery is a severe violation of fundamental human rights and we are committed to acting ethically and with integrity in all of our relationships.
Our Business and Supply Chains
Notting Hill Removals provides residential and commercial removals and associated services. Our operations involve direct employees, agency workers and a network of suppliers and subcontractors who support us with vehicles, equipment, storage facilities and ancillary services. We understand that certain parts of the removals sector and wider logistics and facilities services may present a higher risk of labour exploitation, and we work actively to identify, manage and reduce these risks.
Zero-Tolerance Approach to Modern Slavery
We operate a clear zero-tolerance policy to modern slavery and human trafficking. This applies to all individuals working for or on behalf of Notting Hill Removals, at every level. We do not tolerate any form of forced labour, servitude, bonded labour, child labour that is exploitative or illegal, or any trafficking in persons. Breaches of this policy by employees may result in disciplinary action up to and including dismissal. Breaches by suppliers and business partners may lead to termination of contracts and relationships.
Policies and Governance
Our commitment to preventing modern slavery is underpinned by internal policies that promote ethical behaviour and safeguard the welfare of workers. These policies include standards on recruitment, equal opportunities, health and safety, anti-bribery and whistleblowing. Senior management has overall responsibility for ensuring that these policies are implemented effectively and supported by appropriate procedures, training and monitoring.
Due Diligence and Supplier Audits
We are committed to conducting appropriate due diligence on our existing and new suppliers, contractors and other business partners. As part of this process, we assess the modern slavery risk profile of each supplier based on factors such as location, type of services or goods provided, and the use of temporary or migrant labour. Where risks are identified, we take proportionate steps to mitigate them, including seeking assurances of compliance with relevant labour laws and standards.
We carry out periodic audits of selected suppliers to verify adherence to our ethical expectations, including the prohibition of forced labour and human trafficking. These audits may involve reviewing relevant documentation, conducting site visits and engaging directly with workers where appropriate and feasible. If an audit reveals concerns, we will require corrective action within a specified timeframe and may suspend or end the relationship if adequate remediation is not achieved.
Training and Awareness
We are working to increase awareness of modern slavery risks among our staff, especially those involved in recruitment, procurement, contract management and on-site supervision. Training and guidance are provided to help colleagues recognise indicators of exploitation, understand our zero-tolerance policy and know how to escalate concerns.
Reporting Channels and Protection
Notting Hill Removals encourages employees, workers, suppliers and other stakeholders to report any suspicions or concerns about modern slavery or unethical labour practices connected to our business or supply chains. Concerns can be raised through established internal reporting routes or directly to management. Reports may be made in confidence, and we are committed to handling all concerns sensitively, investigating them promptly and protecting individuals who raise issues in good faith from victimisation or retaliation.
Continuous Improvement and Annual Review
We recognise that the fight against modern slavery is an ongoing effort. We are committed to continually improving our practices, strengthening our controls and enhancing collaboration with suppliers and stakeholders. This statement and our underlying procedures will be reviewed annually by senior management to evaluate effectiveness, incorporate lessons learned and respond to any changes in our risk profile or legal obligations.
This Modern Slavery Statement has been approved by the leadership of Notting Hill Removals and will be updated each year to reflect our continued commitment to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking in our operations and supply chains.
